Shown at left is the carved Diamond Volute
Option as a headstock feature.

Here is what is referred to as a Smile or Smiley Volute.  It can be used when applying a  backside veneer to the headstock as in photo at the right!

A third option is the Contoured Option
 which is a simple tapered headstock feature.
Also called the no volute option.

Heel Treatments can also be specified
on any neck ordered.  Here is the standard
Almond Point Heel.  This type is used by
Martin, Taylor and other makers.

Another heel option is the Gibson Style Heel
which is a rounded heel feature.

 For Cut Away guitars, you can specify the Cut Away Option .

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is characterized as having straight sides, the same dimension top to bottom as the fingerboard width at the joint.

Note the neck block shown (above right)  is recessed to provide glue surface for the cut away sides butt jointed to the neck shoulder.

 The Connection Method: Bolt On

The hardware for all Bolt On type necks includes the Neck Block, double brass 1/4 - 20 thread inserts 30mm in length; self leveling wide flange; 5/32" (4mm) hex socket head.



Included as standard is the CF Martin two way truss rod (fully encapsulated 1/4" w x 3/8" d; 5MM hex as seen at right).


 
The Connection Method: Dovetail

 This is the traditional time honored way of connection stringed instrument necks!    Can be requested on the neck inquiry form.


Additional Work:

Cross drilling to your tuner specifications can also be done as well as addition of head plates veneers to 
take necks further along towards completion.  These are options priced separately!  Please refer to the

Pricing page for all options prices.

Slotting is offered as another feature, with two styles of slots each with 2 possible widths:
 5/8" or 9/16" squared off  with 1/8" radii fillets for the cut through area as shown at left. 
OR
 5/8 or 9/16" wide, half rounds at each end as seen in photo at the right.

 An unusual back side veneer surrounds these diamond volutes for a striking effect.




Specifications Common to all Stock Neck Products:
  • Minimum Neck Plate Dimensions  - 6 1/2 x 3  x 0.500 (std tuners)  
  • Minimum Neck Plate Dimensions  - 6 1/2 x 3  x 0.635 (slotted head)
  • Wider and longer e.g. 12 string head plates are available...just ask.
  • Inserts are 1/4 - 20 thread; 2 per neck.
  • Bolts are Brass 5/32 Allen Head, wide flange.
  • Default neck angle is  1 1/2 degrees for steel strings;3 1/2 to 4 degrees for arch tops; 0 degree for classical.
